Some numbers

While green hydrogen production has not yet been expanded to scale, and any estimate of future volumes and revenues can be rough estimates only, some projections can be made based on our experience in similar projects and our initial high-level hypotheses, e.g. for the Middle East and North Africa. If we assume a hydrogen price of US$ 1 per kg H2 and a total annual production of 10 mt by 2030, this would lead to annual revenue of US$ 10bn. With capacity increasing in the MENA region, as is expected, production could hit 135 mt by 2040, for annual revenues of US$ 135bn.

How these estimates apply to a given geography depends on the capacity for solar and wind energy production, but we can agree that the project has potential to generate US$ 10–15bn per year once it is operating at full capacity. As an additional source of revenue, carbon credits can be sold based on the project.
